Note: Since I upset Colby and Wulfgar with my podcast the other day, I want to respond to some of their points in separate posts. I’ll start with the claim that Rush called the soldier in the VoteVets.org commercial a suicide bomber.

Media Matters , the MSM and the Left continue to attack Rush and lie and misrepresent his words. The latest is the claim that Rush called Brian McGough, the soldier in the Vote Vets.org ad, a suicide bomber. Media Matters actually quotes Rush correctly. (emphasis mine)

You know, this is such a blatant use of a valiant combat veteran, lying to him about what I said, then strapping those lies to his belt, sending him out via the media in a TV ad to walk into as many people as he can walk into.

This man will always be a hero to this country with everyone. Whoever pumped him full of these lies about what I said and embarrassed him with this ad has betrayed him. They’re not hurting me, they’re betraying this soldier. Now, unless he actually believes what he’s saying, in which case it’s just so unfortunate and sad when the truth of what I said is right out there to be learned.

So where exactly does Rush call Mr. McGough a Suicide Bomber??? Sure, he uses the analogy of a suicide bomber to describe what VoteVets.org/MoveOn.org etc. are doing to this valiant combat veteran. But he never calls him a suicide bomber like Mr. McGough himself claims.

“So, Rush Limbaugh called me a ‘suicide bomber,’ said the anti-war veteran. “More slander from the high and mighty sitting in his chair nursing the boils on his ass. I can assure you that I am no suicide bomber and that I can think for myself.’’

So, Wulfgar, you claim Rush called Brian McGough a suicide bomber. I ask you to show me the evidence.

I’m always one to support competition and I recently found a very nice alternative to Microsoft Office. It’s called Lotus Symphony and what makes it interesting is it’s FREE! It’s in beta but it’s pretty polished.

I assume most of us who write blogs are a bit geeky and enjoy playing with new “toys” so I thought it would be worthwhile sharing this one if you haven’t heard about it yet. I downloaded it this past weekend after listening to a Leo Laporte podcast and have been using it instead of my Word and Excel 2000 and I am very impressed.

I always like trying new open source products like Open Office.org and Mozilla products because they seem to be on the cutting edge of developing new technology and push Microsoft to improve their products.

Give it a try.

There was another Democrat debate on Wednesday night and some interesting things were said – or not said that are not getting a lot of attention.

Here’s the question from Tim Russert and the answers from the top three candidates:

…will you pledge that by January 2013, the end of your first term, more than five years from now, that there will be no troops, US troops in Iraq?”

And their answers…

“I think it’s hard to project four years from now,” said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation’s first primary state.

“It is very difficult to know what we’re going to be inheriting,” added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

“I cannot make that commitment,” said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

I guess President Bush’s advice on the war is having an impact on them.

This has got to be really irritating the anti-war Left! If I were them I would be concerned about their credibility and conviction.

Media Matters, the MSM and the Libs are attacking two iconic conservative voices, Rush and O’Reilly. Media Matters are masters at taking comments out of context and twisting what was said. I listened to both of the programs, in context, in question before the controversies and found nothing wrong with either.

I am posting YouTube clips of both Rush and O’Reilly defending themselves because they say it much better than I.

First is the O’Reilly Report with Bill and Juan Williams discussing the controversy.

Next is Rush on his Radio Program. Yes, he edited a minute and change out of the controversial segment which was not relevant to the topic. So what?

Nice try kids, but these guys are professionals and should go all out and defend themselves when a loony group like Media Matters tries to smear them.

Democrat Washington Representative Denis Baird is feeling the heat for changing (gasp!) his stance on the war in Iraq and supporting Bush’s Surge strategy.

A month after Baird, a Democrat from Washington state, switched his views on Iraq and embraced President Bush’s surge strategy, he remains persona non grata in many circles.

At home, he is besieged by angry protesters and hostile ads.

There is no room in the Democrat Party these days for difference of opinion! He must be discredited and driven off.

I give Rep. Baird a lot of credit because he had to know that he would be attacked by the extreme left wing that influences his party and tried to unseat Joe Leiberman.

“There were a few who felt I undermined the message, but I could really care less,” he said Tuesday. “Some were mad at me that I was going off message. In fact, even some of the people who had been pro-war said that to me. … They were so quickly jumping to criticism of someone with a different position. It’s unfortunate that we’re being driven by such an extreme wing right now.”

Baird argued that the anti-war faction of his party allowed no room for alternate approaches.

“They are driving the agenda far too much, and it’s the wrong direction for this country,” he said. “We all agree that we can’t stay forever there, but how we withdraw and when we withdraw and why we withdraw matters a great deal to our own security, the legacy we leave in Iraq and our public image internationally.”

Hang in there Mr. Baird. Your doing the right thing.

There’s a new blog called State Political Blogs out there that linked to Montana’s new and older conservative blogs.

Here is their mission on their “about” link:

Our mission at State Political Blogs is to cover the state-level political blogging scene and to build awareness about the value and impact of blogs that cover state and local politics.

We’re libertarians and conservatives. We want libertarian, conservative and free-market blogs to thrive and prosper. We’ll be providing ideas to help with that, and shining a light on state political blogs that are especially effective.

It looks like us Montana bloggers are one of their first posts.

Update: I forgot to mention how they point out our friends on the left’s hypocracy on the tenor and civility of debate between left and right.

The Liberal Looneys out there loved the Move On/New Your Times “General Betray Us” ad however most Americans did not. According to the latest Rasmussen Poll, only 23% approved while 58% disapproved of the ad.

(Emphasis mine)

Self-identified liberals were evenly divided—45% approve and 39% disapprove. However, only 19% of moderate voters approve while 62% disapprove.

Forty-seven percent (47%) of all adults say that “stunts like the MoveOn.org ad” hurt the cause they believe in. Only 12% believe they help the cause while 17% say there is no impact. Twenty-four percent (24%) are not sure. Again, political liberals are divided with 27% saying they help and 32% taking the opposite view. Fifty percent (50%) of moderates and 57% of conservatives say that these sorts of events hurt the cause the group is trying to promote.

I think it’s interesting that they can’t see beyond their arrogance and condescension and continue to pull stunts such as this. It just does not play well with most Americans.
